Far Cry New Dawn is a fully-fledged stand-alone sequel to Far Cry 5, as it takes place 17 years after the events of Far Cry 5. However, there is still a lot to look forward to in this newest entry in the Far Cry franchise! The game is vibrant with eye-popping colours and ruthless new villains...
Within the game, you assume the role of captain of security for Thomas Rush who is responsible for rebuilding settlements across the west coast of America.
The story begins at Hope County to help fight off the forces of the highwaymen, who are a group of bandits causing chaos. You arrive by train, but have to make a quick getaway and reconnect with Carmina Rye from Far Cry 5. She takes you to Prosperity, which is ultimately where you assemble your people, rebuild its community and infrastructure to become strong enough to face off with the highwaymen.
Far Cry New Dawn features elements of light RPG, basically meaning you need to make sure your enemy never has better weapons than you. But, everything is makeshift so you can enhance your weapons throughout the game.
Far Cry New Dawn incorporates replayable outposts into the core gameplay. The idea is to take outposts from the Highwaymen and then use it as a fast travel point, a workbench, and as a garage. If the outpost is taken back by the Highwaymen, it will be much harder to take it back but the reward will be far greater.
For the first time in the series history, it is the whole world that is affected and not just a remote island or location. This means that all across America there are different chapters of Highwaymen. And, they all have different resources that will give you and Prosperity the edge in Hope County.
The game’s post-apocalyptic world is simply breathtaking! The highwaymen will do anything it takes to come out on top, which is truly exciting. Levelling up my weapons was fun, with the results being even better.
The game launched on 15th February 2019.
