Games To Look Out For In 2019

With 2019 fully under way, we’re looking ahead to this year’s most exciting gaming launches.

Far Cry: New Dawn – February 2019

Using the remnants of the old world, see if you can survive in this post-apocalyptic world and defeat the new threat from the Highwaymen, led by the twins.

With the ability to form alliances with rival gangs and build weaponry amongst the nuclear wreckage, Far Cry: New Dawn is definitely a game we’re looking forward to in 2019.

Total War: Three Kingdoms – March 2019

Taking us to the fall of China’s Han dynasty Total War: Three Kingdoms is set to take us on a historical and bloody journey this March and we cannot wait!

Mortal Kombat 11 – April 2019

Offering unprecedented control of your fighters, new graphics that bring you even closer to the gruesome action and featuring new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat’s iconic cinematic story mode is continued in the 11th release of the series.

Rage 2 – May 2019

With vehicle combat and first person combat game play based in an unforgiving wasteland where you must forage for weaponry and tools, the aim of Rage 2 is to battle for justice and freedom against the oppressive rule of The Authority.

Featuring the talents of Mad Max developer Avalanche Studios, Rage 2 is guaranteed to be an exciting, if not slightly mad, new release.

Lost Ember – June 2019

Lost Ember takes you on a journey through the wild, granting you the ability to possess every animal in the natural world as you learn more about Inrahsi culture from your companion.

With exceptionally vivid graphics, Lost Ember definitely makes you feel part of the wild world.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries – September 2019

We’re very excited about the first MechWarrior campaign in 15 years!

Giving players the option to choose their faction,  travel anywhere in the galaxy and collaborate with others, MechWarrior 5 will cast you into a world of inner space warfare where you bid to become the most skilled mercenary.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – November 2019

The announcement sent gamers into a frenzy at E3 but we still know very little about the new Star Wars Jedi release.

All we know so far is it’s a single-player game from the perspective of a padawan that survives the Order 66 massacre, but, based on Respawn’s history, we’re guessing we can expect some brutal lightsaber duels and a memorable, exciting plot line.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood

Set in 1980s’ Paris, B.J. Blazkowicz’s daughters take the lead in this co-op spin off.

No release date is confirmed as of yet, but, Wolfenstein: Youngblood is set to be released in 2019.

Halo Infinite

We’re still unsure if the new Halo instalment will actually be released in 2019, but, we’re so excited we thought we’d feature it anyway.

With the trailer boasting a wide open game play area and the faster pace that recent Halo games have favoured, Halo could be one of the most exciting games of the year (if it decides to make an appearance that is).

With all these exciting PC gaming releases to look forward to in 2019, you’ll need an advanced gaming PC to provide you with the best possible gaming experience. Shop our gaming PC’S online here, plus, keep an eye out for new gaming bundles featuring the above games!

Best PC Games 2018

2018 has been one hell of a year for PC games. As the year draws to a close, we take a look back at some of the best PC games of 2018.

Black Ops 4

No surprises here. We loved Black Ops 4 at Expertec, especially Blackout.

In spite of some technical issues when the game runs on PC, Blackout effortlessly combines the battle royale genre with the familiar, creative world of the Call of Duty series to deliver an industry leading leading game with detailed plot, intricate maps, extensive arsenal of weapons and clean graphics.

Fallout 76

Again, Fallout 76 is hardly an entirely new experience, but instead, take a familiar game play experience and adapts it to multiplayer.

Despite an uninteresting story that makes missions easily forgettable, Fallout 76 is a largely fun game play with perk cards and character progression the key focus. Although other players can impede your session, the group play mode is largely rewarding and enables you to enhance players’ abilities individually to create an overall strong team.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

As the 11th core instalment of Assassin’s Creed, and 20th in the overall series, Assasin’s Creed Odyssey had a lot to live up to.

Thankfully, it delivered. Combining the vast open worlds Assassin’s Creed is known for with innovative new quests Odyssey broke the repetitive stereotype that role-playing genres, and indeed the Assassin’s Creed series, has been critiqued for.

Battlefield V

The latest in the Battlefield series has a relatively simple plot with minimal changes to the general format of the series.

And, although there were several technical issues such as bombers being overpowered and jaunty camera movements, the nostalgia of returning to the World War II setting for seasoned Battlefield gamers, the solo missions and extensive maps, which boast some of the series’ best, put Battlefield V up there with our top games of 2018.

It’s the game everyone was talking about in summer 2018 and obviously it’s in our top games of 2018.

Although missions become a little repetitive at times, Fortnite shook the Battle Royal genre with its immense simplicity and created a game that provides immense fun, and at times frustration, for both individual and team play.

Our Fortnite gaming pc bundle comes with an Intel Core i5 2nd Gen refurbished PC, rebuilt in a Game Max Mini Kallis gaming case, AOC 17″ monitor, and GameMax Gaming Keyboard, Mouse, Pad and Headset. All for just £469.43!!

Black Ops 4 Blackout PC Review

Featuring the first Battle Royale mode of the popular game series, Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4, Blackout had a lot to prove. Would it follow in Fortnite’s successful footsteps who also followed the Battle Royal genre? Or, would it disappoint existing Call Of Duty fans? Find out in our Black Ops 4 Blackout PC Review.

The Plot

88 players parachute onto the expansive map, collecting equipment and weapons and fighting opponents to become the last player standing. Sounds pretty standard.

However, the attention to detail in the maps, characters, weaponry and graphics is where Blackout really comes into its own.  In fact, Blackout steps apart from its competitors almost instantaneously with the ability to quickly drop from your helicopter, as opposed to waiting, rather impatiently, in the sky, as  on Fortnite.

The Maps

Perhaps one of the most standout features of Call Of Duty, the maps on Blackout are truly something to behold. The maps showcase the most popular maps from the Black Ops series such as Firing Range, Cargo and Asylum. These have been adapted to fit the battle royale genre whilst still keeping their original charm.

The result is that everything from the cities to the sightlines feels individually handcrafted, interesting and unique yet simultaneously familiar and welcoming. A far cry from the copycat, traditional battle royal experience of hiding behind trees and fighting across sparse landscapes, the maps on Blackout provide a vivid player experience that former battle royale games, like Fortnite, fail to deliver. Add to this the nostalgia these maps provide for seasoned Call of Duty players, and the experience is one that cannot be rivaled.

Equipment & Controls

As you would perhaps expect from a Call of Duty game, the arsenal of weapons available in Blackout is extensive, practical and detailed, making them fun to use and ensuring every piece of equipment found is a new favourite.

Unlike other battle royale games, Blackout has improved the clunky, one-dimensional control properties when it comes to equipment use. Perhaps one of the best equipment advancements is the ability to fire your weapon while simultaneously using other equipment, or even operating vehicles.

Despite these revolutionary battle royale improvements, Blackout sadly falls short during the product inventory. The inability to display more than one weapon at a time, the inability to drag or re-position items or ammunition on PC and the inability to pick up items based on proximity makes for a clumsy and frustrating player experience that sadly tarnishes the weaponry, no matter how good it looks.

Unlike its battle royale competitors, Blackout was not released as an early access. As a result, the graphics are clean and the frame rate is consistent. When played on a high-end PC, such as the Core i7 7700 Kaby Lake 7th Gen Gaming PC 4GB GTX 1050 Ti Windows 10 Pro 16GB, the graphics and attention to detail is second to none and far surpasses Fortnite.

Core i7 7700 Kaby Lake 7th Gen Gaming PC 4GB GTX 1050 Ti Windows 10 Pro 16GB – £819.96

The advancements in characters and action on Blackout is one of the most standout developments of the game.

The ability to fight while using vehicles, shoot whilst swimming and heal whilst moving, as opposed to standing still, are revolutionary features that make the game last longer, allow you to explore more advanced techniques and tricks to overall create intense, fast paced fights that break the typical plot of battle royales.

Our Thoughts

Overall, Blackout has managed to combine the dynamic battle royale genre with the familiar, creative detail of the Call Of Duty series to deliver a polished, enhanced game that rivals its competitors. Yes, there are sadly a range of technical issues on PC, and yes, as Call of Duty goes, the game is relatively slow pace. However, this doesn’t discount that the game is fast paced for the battle royale genre. Nor does it take away the joy that comes from playing an outstanding battle royale experience that is combined with one of the most well-developed, innovative gaming series or the immense sense of achievement you feel when, if ever, you actually achieve the last man standing title.
